Welcome to our page! In this website, you are going to find out how intermarriage affects the language use in a family in Hong Kong. We will focus on minority languages spoken by mothers: their attitude towards it and its transmission to the next generation. We interview six mothers speaking languages ranging from Javanese to French. We discovered that most transmission failed. We will analyse the reason behind and suggest bilingualism to preserve heritage language in a metropolitan setting.
